From Libertango and Oblivion to Histoire du Tango, flutist Fiorella Camilleri and pianist Maria Elena Farrugia take the audience on a musical trip to Buenos Aires through the music of Astor Piazzolla, whose music was born out of necessity rather than convention. Living between Argentina and Europe, between popular tradition and classical form, Piazzolla used composition to reconcile opposing worlds. His works do not simply modernize tango; they redefine it as a language capable of expressing memory, conflict, spirituality, and transformation.
