This year, Pjazza Teatru Rjal will be making a return to live events as part of the Iljieli fit-Teatru series in the intimate surroundings of the Green Room situated in the theatre’s backstage. This year’s series will be a celebration of the various genres of music, starting with folk music (January), through Jazz (February), Rock (March), Classical (April), Blues (October) and Opera (November), with the final concert being an evening of yuletide music in Maltese (December).
The first of these concerts, Għana Night, will be held on Monday 30th January and will feature leading għannejja such as Żeppi Spagnol, Angelo Theuma and Michael Cumbo singing the three main types of the genre: għana tal-fatt, għana spirtu pront and għana fil-għoli(Bormliża).
Entrance to the Green Room is via Pjazza Teatru Rjal’s backstage entrance in Victory Street. As in previous years, concerts start at 19:30h and entrance is free but tickets need to be reserved by sending an e-mail on admin@pjazzateatrurjal.mt
